Kentucky Derby 2018 Futures

The Kentucky Derby will take place on Saturday, May 5, which means people are already placing Kentucky Derby 2018 futures bets on which horse will win the first leg of the Triple Crown races.

With so much time left until the race, the odds for the winners have changed and will continue changing until the start of the race.

Last year, two-year-old colt Bolt d’Oro was the favorite to win the Derby after winning two G1 races. However, that changed after he lost to Good Magic at the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.

Current Kentucky Derby Betting Futures

McKinzie (8-1)

McKinzie has won all three races he has been entered in, including a G1 and G3 race. The fact that he is trained by Bob Baffert and jockeyed by Mike Smith, who have had a lot of success in Triple Crown races, helps make him the current favorite.

Good Magic (12-1)

Good Magic’s performance at the Breeders’’ Cup Juvenile, where he defeated Bolt d’Oro helped him become one of the favorites to win the Kentucky Derby. With another race coming up this weekend, Good Magic will get a chance to improve his odds to win the Derby with another strong performance.

Bolt d’Oro (14-1)

The former favorite to win the Kentucky Derby now has the third best odds to win it, which is a good thing for those planning to bet on him. Despite his loss to Good Magic, many still believe he is the better horse, and with a few races left before the Derby, he too can improve his odds to win if he puts together some strong performances.

Audible (15-1)

Audible hasn’t been entered in a G1 race, so he is still flying under the radar at the moment. He has won three of the four races he has been entered in and finished third in the fourth race. Bettors will know if he is capable of defeating any of the other favorites at the Derby when he runs in his first G1 race on March 31.
